Description

The Stanlake Park Bacchus is a refreshing and fruity dry wine with flavours of grapefruit, gooseberry and hints of passion fruit and peach.

This wine is made from vines that are 15 years old.  They are producing fantastic quality grapes and this is reflected in this beautifully finished wine.

Enjoy by itself or together with spicy cheeses, well-seasoned white meats or creamy veggies.

Since 1979 Stanlake Park Wine Estate has developed some of the highest quality vineyards in Berkshire and uses grapes from these properties to produce a wide range of English wines, including white, rosé, red and traditional method sparkling wine.
Nico Centonze, Stanlake Park’s skillful Italian winemaker, personally follows the progress of each wine, carefully tasting, blending, and selecting which wines to bottle or mature. The whole wine making process, from vine to bottle, is meticulously overseen and guaranteed.

About the vineyard

Stanlake Park

The Estate dates back to 1166 when when the land was held by Patrick Earl of Salisbury. The estate was then named Hinton Pipard and the site of the original manor house was on the edge of the northern most perimeter, at Botany Bay Copse, where a quadrangular moat can still be seen.

During the second half of the 20th century Stanlake Park was owned by the Leighton family, of which Jon Leighton had the vision to plant a vineyard in 1979, when a small test area of 500 vines was planted. The original vineyard was known as Thames Valley Vineyard, but was later renamed after the Stanlake Park estate itself.

The initial test area was then expanded to over 15 acres and more than 10,000 vines. Stanlake Park grows a large number of grape varieties – including Bacchus, Schönburger, Madeleine Angevine, Seyval blanc, Triomphe d’Alsace, Gewürztraminer, Ortega, Dornfelder, Siegerebbe, Optima, Pinot Grigio and the classic Champagne varieties Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay.

Winemaking takes place within a 17th Century Reformation barn which houses the largest winery in Berkshire, capable of handling over 200 tonnes of fruit in any one season. Our disgorging line was one of the first being used in England. The fastidious attention to detail in the vineyard continues in the winery, where the entire process is carefully monitored and controlled by Nico Centonze, our expert winemaker.

Since 1979 Stanlake Park Wine Estate has developed some of the highest quality vineyards in Berkshire, and uses grapes from these properties to produce a wide range of English wines, including white, rosé, red and traditional method sparkling wine.

Nico Centonze, Stanlake Park’s skillful Italian winemaker, personally follows the progress of each wine, carefully tasting, blending and selecting which wines to bottle or to mature. The whole wine making process, from vine to bottle, is  meticulously overseen and guaranteed.

I love a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and this wine is just as good (if not better!) and it’s made in our wonderful country. Easy drinking without a heavy aftertaste that some wines can have. 10/10
