About the vineyard

Simpsons

At Simpsons, they believe that the finest wines convey a rich sense of provenance and integrity, firmly rooted in the characteristics and exquisite nuances of their terroir.

This is why they settled for nothing less than the finest parcels of land in southern England to plant the vines for Simpsons’ first English sparkling wine.

The Simpsons’ vineyards occupy glorious positions on the sunny, sheltered slopes of the North Downs of Kent, protected from the whimsy of the English climate by ancient woodland and anchored in the iconic chalky soils so highly revered in the world of both still and sparkling wine.

Each vine has been planted and nurtured by Simpsons, and each bunch of grapes will, when the moment is quite right, be picked and pressed by them – allowing them at every step to deliver the fullest expression of our Kentish terroir.

By personally delivering the lightest of touches at each step of the winemaking process, they believe that they are creating wines of great provenance and presence, so that when every glass of Simpsons’ English wine is poured, each sip leads you back to the North Downs.

Simpsons welcomes tourism and offers a range of tours including their Sunset Sessions:
The experience will begin with a walk to The Roman Road Vineyard, where you will learn about how the vines are grown and harvested whilst sampling Simpsons’ Wine Estate flagship sparkling wine, the Chalklands Classic Cuvée.
Returning to the Winery, we will then explain the fascinating wine-making process from the comfortable vantage point of The Glass House Tasting Room, whilst you enjoy a delicious tasting of Simpsons’ current release wines.
In addition, Macknade Fine Foods, the South East’s leading food hall in Faversham, will be providing a delectable platter of locally-sourced cheese and charcuterie to enhance your appreciation of the wines.
The evening will finish with a flourish, with a trip down our helter-skelter!

My daughter introduced me to this bottle and we loved it so much we had to buy a whole case. It’s just a really delicious, easy-drinking Chardonnay.
