Just can’t decide what to treat her with this Mother’s Day?
Tory recommends English wines for every type of wine drinking Mum.
We’ve got something for everyone this Mother’s day. To help make your gifts extra special this year we will be wrapping all Mother’s day orders and handwriting your gift messages on luxury cards.
Below are some of my suggestions guaranteed to bring smiles to Mummy’s all round.
Pink Fizz – Ridgeview Fitzoria
If it’s good enough for the Queen, it may just be good enough for Mum. This delicate salmon pink fizz was served to Barack Obama by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace State Banquet. Bursting with classic red fruit character it’s perfect for when the Sun decides to put his hat on.
Classic Bubbles – Tickerage Blanc de Blancs
A true English ‘Champagne’, perfect to celebrate a very special Mama. Made from 100% Chardonnay this Sussex sparkler has spent extended time on the lees providing gorgeous texture and complexity. Tickerage grows only the classic ‘Champagne’ grapes on their estate so here is a perfect place to start a venture into English Sparkling Wine.
Tickerage Blanc de Blancs£37.99
The Rosé – Oxney Pinot Noir Rosé
Oxney Pinot Noir Rose 2019£17.99
Soft and delicate, this is such a pretty wine for the Rosé lover. A textbook example of what a pinot noir rosé should be, pale provence pink, aromas of Strawberries and cranberries leading to a crisp fresh finish. Oxney is proud to run their vineyard as sustainably as possible and keeps all their wines organic.
A Big White – Simpsons Roman Road
After something a bit richer? Look no further. Made from the Burgundian clone of Chardonnay, Simpsons Roman Road is a shining example of just how good english stills can be. This wine has spent 9 months in beautiful French Oak barrels before bottling, this has added weight to its body along with sweet and spicy flavours.
Simpsons Roman Road 2019£25.99
Devon Red – Sharpham Pinot Noir
Sharpham Pinot Noir£17.99
Becky and Sara have shown us all the incredible standard of English red wines over the last month. This is my (and my Mums) personal favourite. Winner of a gold medal in the Wine GB 2020 awards, this youthful pinot noir is fresh, fruity and too easy to drink. 8 months in oak has helped to round the wine and bring out lovely gentle spice notes.
