Nyetimber

Nyetimber’s vineyards share similar characteristics with the best sparkling wine vineyards in the world.

Using only estate-grown grapes from their own vineyards ensures that only the finest fruit is used to craft globally acclaimed Nyetimber wines.

Head Winemaker, Cherie Spriggs, and her Winemaker husband Brad Greatrix assess each handpicked vineyard individually – from choosing the optimal time to harvest the grapes and supervising their gentle pressing to eventual vinification.

All Nyetimber wines are crafted according to the traditional method, ageing them for extended periods of time to build complexity and flavour, and allowing for generous post-disgorgement time before release.

Few wineries in the world have dared to take on Champagne, but that’s exactly what owner and chief executive Eric Heerema and head winemaker Cherie Spriggs have done.

Nyetimber were the first in England to grow Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and notoriously fickle Pinot Noir – the revered trinity of grapes that make up the world’s finest sparkling wines.

Nyetimber are now established as one of the world’s leading sparkling wine producers and have succeed in crafting wines of exceptional quality, impressing top wine judges and triumphing against the established names of Champagne in blind tastings.

Key to Nyetimber’s success is the estate’s south-facing vineyards that lie on chalk or greensand soil, nestled across the South of England.

Each Nyetimber vineyard was carefully selected to ensure the ideal conditions for the slow ripening of the grapes to give the optimum level of acidity and the complexity and finesse for which Nyetimber is renowned.
