Giffords Hall is a family-owned vineyard located near Long Melford in Suffolk, planted on the site of an ancient glacial riverbed. The sandy clay soils, combined with favourable growing conditions, support the production of grapes with good natural balance, suited to both still and sparkling English wines.
Established over 25 years ago, the vineyard has matured alongside the wider English wine industry. Initially focused on growing high-quality fruit, Giffords Hall released its first estate-labelled wines in 2009 and has since developed a reputation for producing well-crafted, expressive wines.
A range of grape varieties are cultivated on site, including Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Rondo and Madeleine Angevine, with newer plantings reflecting a continued investment in quality and development. Winemaking combines stainless steel fermentation to retain freshness with selective oak ageing to add depth and complexity.
Today, Giffords Hall produces award-winning English wines that reflect both its Suffolk setting and a considered, minimal-intervention approach in the vineyard.
