Why we love Nyetimber

English wine would not be where it is today without Nyetimber. They were the first to plant the three Champagne grapes in England with the sole intention of making sparkling wine, despite plenty of scepticism at the time. Thank goodness they ignored it. Under head winemaker Cherie Spriggs and her team, they continue to earn global recognition and multiple international sparkling wine awards.

Nyetmber vineyards benefit from conditions comparable to some of the world’s finest sparkling wine regions. Across our sites in the south of England, a mix of greensand and chalk soils provides an ideal foundation for healthy, expressive vines. The region’s cool climate encourages a longer, slower ripening process, helping the grapes develop balanced acidity alongside depth of flavour. This careful maturation is key to achieving the elegance, complexity and refined character that define the wines.
