Riverview Crouch Valley

Riverview Crouch Valley is the newest vineyard to launch in the renowned Crouch Valley wine region of Essex, England, set in 11 acres of south-westerly slopes overlooking the beautiful River Crouch in Essex.

Riverview Crouch Valley specialises in small-batch premium quality single varietal still and sparkling wine, from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

The vineyard was established in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Umut and Katie Yesil. After running several successful businesses together as young entrepreneurs, the pair turned their attention to the world of English wine.

What started as a conversation around the kitchen table with Katie’s father Billy – a third- generation arable farmer – led to careful research, planning, and finding all the right people to help make their vineyard dream a reality.

Working with viticulturist Duncan McNeill, the family converted 11 acres of their arable land facing the River Crouch into a vineyard. The Crouch Valley offers an incredible grape-growing microclimate, benefitting from its close proximity to the river.

Prime location, years of careful tending to the land and London clay soil were the perfect recipe to produce premium quality grapes. After harvest, the grapes are taken to the award-winning Lyme Bay winery, where winemakers James Lambert and Sarah Massey produce the wine for Riverview Crouch Valley.

Umut and Katie debuted their first vintage, their 2020 Chardonnay, at Wine GB in September 2022 to rave reviews from critics, journalists, and buyers.

At the end of 2023, they look forward to sharing their first Pinot Noir (2021), along with their 2021 Chardonnay. The following year they will be launching their sparkling rose, a 100% Pinot Meunier from 2021.
