Winbirri vineyard is based in Norfolk.  Established in 2007, the first commercial planting was then completed in 2010.  It’s a real family affair at Winbirri Vineyards.  Six family members prune, pick grapes, press and bottle.   Vineyard owner Lee, has also invested in a modern winery on-site.  This enables processing to start within minutes of the grapes being picked.  The vineyard currently concentrates on growing five grapes – Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Solaris, Rondo and Seyval Blanc.

Finally, Winbirri also offers tours and tastings throughout the year where you can see exactly how the wine is produced.

About the vineyard

Winbirri

Winbirri Vineyards was established in 2007 by experienced fruit farmer, Stephen Dyer.

Stephen’s son, Lee, took over at the age of 32 in 2010 when the first commercial plantings took place.

He signed up for a number of intensive viticulture, oenology and wine skills courses at Plumpton College in East Sussex and immersed himself in winemaking literature before taking the plunge and has not looked back since.

Passionate, forward-thinking and talented, Lee is meticulous about looking after the vineyard.

“Quality is everything here at Winbirri, it all begins in the vineyard. To make the best wines, you need the best grapes.”
Lee Dyer

Lee likes to be in control and manages everything in-house – something, he believes, that is essential to guarantee top quality.

It’s a real family affair at Winbirri Vineyards with six family members pruning, grape-picking, pressing and bottling and an extra three employees at busy times such as harvest.

Lee has also invested in a modern winery on-site, enabling processing to start within minutes of the grapes being picked.

Winbirri also offers tours and tastings throughout the year.

During the tour you will be guided around the vineyard by experienced head winemaker Lee Dyer who explains the history, the methods used in the vineyards to care for the vines and the reasons for the grapes we grow here in England.

The four vineyards, which are all managed by Lee, are planted to Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Solaris, Rondo and Seyval Blanc.
