We have the privilege of tasting many wines here at ERW HQ. Needless to say, not all of them make the cut. But recently, we had the opportunity to try the fabulous range of white wines from Nutbourne, a family-run vineyard based in Sussex – and we loved them so much that we’ve decided to stock all four!
The Gladwin family members each play a key role at this beautiful estate. Peter can be found leading tours of the vineyard, Bridget has lovingly created the artwork for the wine labels, while Gregory, Oliver and Richard busy in the winery and kitchen. Together the family grow, tend, harvest and bottle their Nutbourne wines.
Production is small and hands on, only around 50,000 bottles made from estate-grown fruit each year. Committed to protect the land for future generations, Nutbourne has a focus on sustainability. Their underground ‘wine cave’ removed the need for air conditioning during wine storage, and solar panels on the roof have also made them the first wine producer in Sussex to be use 100% renewable energy.
