Simpsons Rabbit Hole Pinot Noir is deep ruby in colour, bursting with red fruit aromas and touch of sweet spice. The grapes for this wine have been specially selected for their ripeness from Simpson's Rabbit Hole Vineyard. The Pinot Noir is a specific, low yielding clone which is also found in the famed vineyard of Burgundy. After seeing a mixture of old, new, French and American oak this wine is not short of complexity. Its silky tannins are complemented by a hint of juicy cherry and earthy undertones. We think Simpsons Pinot Noir is best matched with British venison bresaola, rabbit linguine, or roast beetroot risotto.

Simpsons Wines

The vineyards sit on south-facing slopes near the village of Barham, naturally sheltered by surrounding woodland. These conditions help protect the vines while allowing them to benefit from consistent sunlight, supporting balanced ripening and refined flavour development.

Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the estate enjoys far-reaching views across the Kent countryside, with its setting adding to the character and identity of the wines produced there.

Planting began with 10 hectares in 2014 at what is now known as Roman Road Vineyard, named after the historic route believed to have introduced vines to England during the Roman invasion. Further expansion followed between 2016 and 2017 with the development of Railway Hill Vineyard, adding an additional 20 hectares dedicated to classic grape varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.

Simpsons’ Wine Estate was founded in 2014 in the Elham Valley, Kent, an area widely recognised for its excellent conditions for growing high-quality grapes. Nestled within the North Downs, the estate benefits from a combination of favourable climate, varied terrain and chalk-rich soils that are ideal for both still and sparkling wine production.

The vineyards are positioned on sheltered, south-facing slopes near the village of Barham, where surrounding woodland offers natural protection from the elements. This setting allows the vines to develop gradually, helping to produce wines with balance, freshness and depth of character.
