Halfpenny Green is a long-established English vineyard located in the Severn Valley in Staffordshire. Founded in 1983, the estate has grown from a small half-acre planting into one of the UK’s larger vineyards, now covering close to 30 acres of south-facing slopes.
The site sits around 250 feet above sea level, with light, free-draining sandy soils that support consistent vine growth. A wide range of grape varieties are cultivated, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus, alongside more climate-resilient varieties such as Rondo, Regent and Madeleine Angevine. This diversity allows for the production of both still and sparkling wines.
Winemaking takes place on site, with the estate producing around 50,000–60,000 bottles of its own wines each year. Alongside this, the winery also works with other vineyards across England and Wales, reflecting its wider role within the English wine industry.
With over four decades of experience, Halfpenny Green continues to produce award-winning wines that reflect both its location and a practical, quality-focused approach to English viticulture.
