Vineyard Tours and Tastings to Book Now
The last year has hit vineyard tourism hard. Now, with the worst hopefully behind us, vineyard tours and tastings are back and more exciting than ever. Whether you’re looking to make a day of it, or just get to know your local vineyard, here are 4 vineyard tours and tastings to book now.
Wine Tours of Kent
The ultimate choice if you want to visit the Kent countryside this Summer. Wine Tours of Kent are our go-to tour guides for a multi-vineyard day out. Abi and the team tailor each tour to your specific group needs. Expect to be wined and dined, with lunch options ranging from country pub lunch, picnic/grazing style lunch at the vineyard, to Michelin star restaurant (at an additional cost). Private group tours start at £89.00 for a full day tour and you will be chauffeured around in a private mini bus, so no need to worry about who’s designated driver. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or you just fancy a day out wine tasting, Wine Tours of Kent will make your day as special as possible. Quote “ER2021” when booking to upgrade your tour to include a free bottle of wine and a personalised video of your tour.
Sharpham Wine, Devon
One of our favourite English wine producers is now resuming their tours and tastings. Sharpham offer a range of different options when visiting. You can book their vineyard and river trail for just £2.50 per adult, explore the River Dart and get up close and personal with the vines. Or try a DIY tasting with four wines and three cheeses from Sharpham’s daily selection – Enjoy at your leisure with tasting notes. Or, for just £25.00 per person, you can book a two-hour fully guided tour of the vineyard with tasting of five wines and two cheeses. A must visit.
Stopham Estate, Sussex
Stopham Estate in Sussex offer winemaker tours most Saturdays. These give a deep insight into their winemaking process from soil to bottle. The vineyard itself is located in the stunning medieval hamlet of Stopham. On low-altitude South-facing slopes, the vines catch all the rays of sunshine of our British summers. Tours include a comprehensive, in-depth tour of both the vineyard and the winery, culminating in a wine tasting of Stopham’s range of delicious wines. You can also choose to add lunch by the river. This is a fascinating and insightful tour, given by one of the winemakers or the vineyard manager. See photos from our last visit here.
Bardfield Vineyard, Essex
Great Lodge, Essex, was once owned by Anne of Cleves. Now a popular wedding venue, Great Lodge welcomes visitors with the option of self-guided tours and free tastings in the vineyard shop. Guided tours and tastings are also available by appointment. We’re looking forward to their Summer Picnic on May Bank Holiday Monday: Bring your friends, family and a picnic and enjoy live music at the vineyard. Be sure to meet their friendly alpaca herd when you visit and keep your eye out for future events. Recently awarded Organic status, Bardfield Vineyard’s wines are truly delicious and excellent value. In the warmer months, this makes for a lovely, relaxed day out.
